How can existing linguistic data be effectively reused for teaching purposes and secondary analyses? This 90-minute workshop introduces strategies and best practices for integrating openly available linguistic datasets into university-level teaching and research. Drawing on the example of a Master’s course where students learn to build and analyze corpora using real-world data from public repositories, the workshop will provide practical insights and tools.
In the workshop, we will explore available data infrastructures (e.g., CLARIN resources), try out corpus-linguistic tools, and collaboratively design small-scale reuse scenarios for teaching or research contexts. The session combines input, demonstration, and hands-on exercises – and encourages open exchange of ideas and experiences.
