Grigorios Anagnostopoulos, HEG Genève (HES-SO)

The CoORDinates project (funded by swissuniversities) explored the level of adoption of Open Science practices within a specific research community, that of Indoor Positioning research. Through large-scale systematic reviews, listing and characterizing all existing open datasets and studying their adoption in publications of the field, CoORDinates mapped the field’s current ORD landscape, identified critical gaps, and extracted emerging best practices. Key takeaways include common metadata pitfalls, incoherent data usage reporting and data citing patterns, and the lack of systemic incentives encouraging and rewarding best practices. This talk will present the methodology of our systematic studies and highlight the lessons learned, which are relevant across disciplines aiming to foster open, reproducible research.
