Despite widespread use in industry, Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs) have seen slower adoption in academia. Overcoming this gap presents several challenges and adoption strategies vary by institution size and interdisciplinary nature.

In this talk, we will present insights gained from our experience at ETH Zurich, where we develop our own ELN and data management system, openBIS, and we provide this as a service to research groups at ETH Zurich and beyond.
