As local data stewardship networks are being established at different Swiss HEIs, data steward coordinators are taking on the challenging role of establishing these new networks and addressing research data management issues of a variety of disciplines. The node Data Stewardship Coordinators aims to support data steward coordinators in defining and fulfilling their roles, tasks and challenges.
Objectives
The node aims to help data stewardship coordinators with their role, tasks and challenges (e.g. sustainability) in setting up local data stewardship networks and coordinating and meeting the demands of various disciplines. Currently there is no place of exchange and support for data steward coordinators, so this node will provide a community of practice for them.
Specifically, the DSC node aims to be a forum for expert input as well as peer-to-peer advice and discussion of questions like the role of data stewards and data stewardship coordinators (job descriptions, services), motivating data stewards for their work, training and onboarding new data stewards, etc.
Additionally it is a place to share resources and provide support (e.g. in the form of best practices, presentation slides or training events) for coordinators.
Organization
The node is led by Susanna Weber (UZH) and Carmen Jambé (UNIL) as of November 2024. The lead of the node is confirmed on an annual basis during the SRDSN meeting in autumn and is responsible for the management of the node.

Activities
The node organizes a maximum of three meetings annually for data steward coordinators to provide a platform for discussion, readings, and inputs by expert speakers. The node also organizes/coordinates information or training events for data stewards and interested people on a national level if requested by the coordinators.
