Kickoff meeting of L-RDM Node

Launched on April 29, 2026, the Language Research Management (L-RDM) promotes the alignment of practices across Swiss HEIs, the collaborative development of resources, training, and practical support to improve awareness, capacity, and consistency in the management of language data across disciplines, as exemplified by initiatives such as the LaDaD project.

The formal kickoff of the L-RDM node will take place on November 26, in Bern (Room S 201, UniS, Schanzeneckstrasse 1) and on Zoom, between 1:30-2:30PM (CET). The kickoff is collocated with the LaDaD Community Workshop entitled From needs to solutions: Building sustainable support for researchers working with language data. The workshop will provide:

  • Insights from the disciplines — Findings from interviews with disciplinary experts and a national survey, showing how researchers beyond linguistics work with language data, and what they need most.
  • New resources — A first look at what LaDaD has built: legal and ethical guidance, and a catalogue of training resources for researchers and teachers.
  • Tools, NLP pipelines & practical workflows — Examples of language-data infrastructures and NLP methods in action, showing what they can offer research beyond linguistics.

We invite all members of the SRDSN and other research support professionals interested in learning more about language data management to join the L-RDM node and to attend the kickoff meeting. Everyone is also warmly invited to attend the full LaDaD Community Workshop.
